Mission Statement:
To inspire and empower people affected by any sort of abuse or trauma with the help of horses. It is where Hope and Healing Meet.
Horse and Soul Ranch was founded by Loreen and her husband Mike Houdek. The ranch is located outside of Burr Oak, Iowa on approximately 39 acres. Horse and Soul Ranch.
We welcome everyone but have a special focus for those who are emotionally vulnerable, are lonely, hurting or need a friend, or have been abused physically, sexually or emotionally.
We help Any Victims of trauma of any gender from ages 6 – 99+ including but not limited to: Veterans, People with Mental Health needs, Domestic and Sexual Abuse that come to Horse and Soul Ranch with Equine Friends. exists to provide a safe and positive environment in which we offer riding opportunities to individuals 6-99+ years old.
We are an organization created by a group of dedicated individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes. We enable survivors to gain courage and confidence through interactions with hand-selected horses, increasing their horsemanship skills and knowledge.
Most importantly the horse provides the client a time to relax and escape the stresses of everyday life and motivate them on their journey to success. If you feel like nothing is helping and that you feel very alone and need something that will connect with you and your heart then visit Horse and Soul Ranch. You will feel very welcomed and loved!
No client will be denied access to Horse and Soul Ranch due to financial reasons. This program operates through donations and volunteers, we welcome assistance to aid these clients on their journey. Together we can make a difference in their lives.
Then natural horsemanship is practiced starting from grooming, to ground work and riding. The client will never be asked to do anything that they are not comfortable with. Horse and Soul Ranch would like the client to come to at least one 90-minute session once a week for 9 weeks.
We only have an outdoor arena so there may be rescheduling. There is a free will donation of $35 per session. This will help with insurance, care and feed for the horses used and equipment.
